HISTORY

Eight self-adhesive stamps are to be issued. They will be in the A price band, equivalent to the value of a normal letter of up to 20 g for Spain, with an unlimited print run.

All the images of the cards and the stamps reproduce pictorial works recreated in still life, in which ceramic pieces are central features in paintings by the Cadiz-born artist, Antonio Miguel González (Algeciras, 1954). All these works belong to his Ceramics series. Antonio Miguel González comes from the world of design, painting, drawing and sculpture, and was initially self-taught until he studied Fine Arts, which completed his artistic training. In his unusual realism, which is simple and full of everyday details, there are significant evocations of nineteenth century painting. A creator of precise and elegant drawing works, captivated by the world of architecture, he manages to create sober subject matter and solemn atmospheres in his settings, which together with a carefully thought out chromatic, gives his work realism and magnitude.

This artist, who has a great deal of exhibition experience, has received numerous important awards. These include the Algeciras Information and Tourism Prize (1970), the First Spanish Painting Prize and the Gold Medal at the XVIII Caja Jerez Exhibition, an Honorable Mention in the Ciudad Real Plastic Arts Competition and a Prize at the XVIII Cadiz Fine Arts Exhibition. Today, he is a sculpture teacher at the Algeciras School of Art.
