José Luis López Vázquez was born in 1922 and is one of the most prolific and important actors in the history of Spanish interpretation. He was extraordinarily talented and his sensibility, his obsessive perfectionism in his work, outstanding ductility and dedication allowed him to brilliantly perform a wide variety of roles and characters.
To speak of José Luis López Vázquez is to speak of one of our most reputed directors, of some of the best films in Spanish cinematography and most memorable plays and TV productions which are nowadays looked upon as mythical.
“Equs” or “La muerte de un viajante” in theatre staging, “La Cabina” in televisión and a large number of brilliant performances in films such as El Cochecito, Plácido, El Pisito, Atraco a las tres, La gran familia ,El Jardín de las delicias, Mi querida señorita, Viajes con mi tía, La escopeta nacional, La colmena or Luna de Avellaneda amongst others…
Throughout his career he received all sorts of awards and acknowledgements such as the Gold Medal of the Arts, the Gold Merit Medal for a life’s work, the National Theatre Award and the Honorary Goya for a life’s career.
