50 ANIVERSARIO DEL SALÓN NÁUTICO DE BARCELONA

HISTORY

To celebrate the 50 Anniversary of the Barcelona Boat Show, a commemorative stamp is issued depicting a sailboat at sea.

The Barcelona Boat Show is the largest gathering of the nautical and recreational navigation industry in Spain and one of the most important in Europe. It is held every year and is an international showcase to present the sector’s latest nautical trends

The event was founded by Juan Antonio Samaranch, who served as president until 1977, with the aim of enhancing the nautical industry in our country and to promote a greater love of sea sports. Over these 50 years of existence, the Boat Show has grown in exhibitors and visitors, gathering more than 365 exhibiting companies from 31 countries and nearly 120,000 visitors.

Many activities take place throughout the exhibition: lectures and debates, presentations of regattas, awards ceremonies and recreational activities such as dinghy sailing practice, sailing workshops and exhibitions of classic wooden boats.

The Boat Show takes place in two different venues: the Gran Via Fira de Barcelona, which hosts the smaller boats, accessories, clothing, books, magazines and different nautical services, and the Port Vell, hosting the floating exhibition of large vessels and mega-yachts. The Exhibition has become an important trading platform in the industry and is the best showcase to present the latest trends of an industry employing 15,000 workers in Spain. The show, for its tradition and internationally reputation has become the meeting point for professionals and enthusiasts of the nautical industry.

The Boat Show is organized by the Fira of Barcelona and has the support of the National Association of Nautical Industries (ANEN) and key sector entities.
