FELIPE VI. KING OF SPAIN
The proclamation of Felipe VI The King of Spain is commemorated by the issuance of a sheet of stamps that reproduce the official portraits of HRH King Felipe VI and Their Royal Highnesses King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia. Highlighted in the background to the composition are the colours of the Spanish flag and the King's coat of arms.
On June 19, 2014, HRH Felipe of Bourbon and Greece was proclaimed King of Spain in the Spanish Parliament. In accordance with the established protocol, and in the presence of the President of the Congress, the President of the Government, Members of Parliament, Senators and other dignitaries, Felipe VI swore loyalty to the Constitution and gave his first speech as King. This historic occasion took place in the Congress of Deputies and in his intervention Felipe VI referred to the numerous issues that affect Spanish society and to his desire to serve Spain: “A diverse yet united nation”, and to his determination to embody a reinvigorated Monarchy for a new era. He made that quite clear in his speech when he stated: “I take up my task with energy, enthusiasm and with the open-minded spirit of renewal that inspires the men and women of my generation”.
The chronological order of events was as follows: on June 2, King Juan Carlos I announced his intention to abdicate the Crown. The following day, the new King was proclaimed under the name of Felipe VI.

Rate D - €2.10. For a “standard” Ordinary International letter or postcard addressed to the USA, Canada, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, up to 20 g.
