Meanwhile, the Fee B stamp from the classic and religious Christmas issue for 2016 is dedicated to the Virgin May. This stamp is a continuation of the collection that began last year with the stamp of the Baby Jesus. Just like this one, the outline of the Virgin Mary is included as a removable section and is self-adhesive, meaning that it can be stuck on the 2015-2017 Collectable Christmas Card, which will be completed next year with the figure of Saint Joseph. The stamp can be kept in its original format if the Virgin Mary outline is not peeled off.
Correos aims to bring together the wonderful Christmas tradition of “setting up the nativity scene” with stamp collecting, and thus create a unique lifelong memory.
The images that form this nativity make reference to the Santo Domingo de la Calzada Neapolitan nativity scene.
The stamp issued represents the figure of the Virgin Mary who is the main focus of this nativity, appearing expressing her gratitude. Her fair complexion perfectly matches the pastel colours of her clothes, completing the angelic image used to portray the mother of the Baby Jesus.
