The ultimate goal of biomedical research is to save lives. It is important for the knowledge acquired from health research to be applied to treating and preventing diseases as well as improving the population's health and quality of life.
Science, research and technology are fundamental paths for progress, without which there can be no well-being.
There may be numerous lines of research in Spain but there are four in particular that have made really significant advances. We are talking about genetics, oncology, neuroscience and immunology.
Thanks to these professionals who are dedicating their lives to trying to save the rest of us and who are fighting for the hope of a better future, with a healthier population, progress is being made in what is known as personalised medicine, that is, treatments tailored to each patient, which would achieve better results.
Correos is dedicating a stamp to Biomedical Research, in recognition of this work on all our behalf, whether we are sick or healthy. thanks to which we will be able protect ourselves against a multitude of illnesses.
The stamp shows three highly significant images that sum up what biomedical research means in general: a doctor’s coat with a stethoscope representing the doctors who cure and treat us; a researcher doing her work and a child symbolising health and the future of humanity.
