LEISURE AND HOBBIES. PUY DU FOU THEME PARK

Theme parks are places where people can immerse themselves in exciting experiences that leave lifelong memories. These leisure and entertainment spaces are still a favourite destination and a great excuse for visiting other countries.

Spain has over 15 theme parks around the country. Correos is keen to promote Spain through stamps, and its philatelic series Leisure and Hobbies is highlighting these fun places with a new stamp featuring Puy du Fou España.

This Spanish project arrived in Spain in August 2019, inspired by the French park of the same name which has twice been voted the best theme park in the world.

El Sueño de Toledo became its first great evening show, in homage to the city where it is located. The production was a resounding hit with critics and audiences, exceeding its creators’ expectations.

The show tells part of the history of Spain, from the kingdom of Recaredo to Las Navas de Tolosa, from the discovery of the Americas to the arrival of the railway. Spectators are transported on a journey through time, over 1,500 years of Spanish history, with more than 200 actors and special effects on an immense 5-hectare stage.

The new season of Puy du Fou España will add four new daytime history shows to delight audiences with figures of the stature of Columbus, El Cid, and Lope de Vega.

And visitors can live the experience intensely and realistically, surrounded by nature, as they venture through different eras. They can walk through a 13th-century village with traditional trades such as water-carriers and potters, and see more amazing buildings created to make their adventure a memorable experience.

The stamp shows some of the protagonists of the show with costumes and weapons of their era, and even one of the sailing ships that took them to the New World.
